Mission Hills is the only course in Phuket on the sea front and such, the trade-off for this proximity to the sea is soil with a higher salt content, making it harder to maintain their grass. As a result, course conditions can be in less than top condition. During the green season however, there is significantly more rain which helps coupled with the course watering system to give a lush playing surface.

The par 5 2nd hole requires two accurate shots, leaving a comfortable third to the island green while the par 4 5th plays back to the island green from island tees in a huge sandy waste.
